Foraging for BBQ

I was fortunate enough today to meet up with some friends from work that know a little bit about foraging for wild edibles.  I’ve always been one for outdoors and things but never really put too much thought on whether or not that plant over there could be the next garnish on a dish.  So I figured it might be good to learn some things and me i learn by doing not looking in a book.  We started off by looking for fresh water and decided to go towards Santee and Lake Moultrie.

Well no luck with the plants so we turned our thought to lunch and BBQ.

Lone Star Barbecue & Mercantile is where we ended up.  The food is fairly good, you get the buffet for 9$.  They had rice, hash, fried okra, fried chicken, corn bread, mac & cheese, banana pudding, and more that I can’t remember.  The food was that of what a good old country grandmother would cook and the place itself makes the trip worth it.
